The liberal media loves to tout their so-called “commitment” to free speech and democracy. Yet, when it comes to actual events where these principles are at stake, they conveniently look the other way. Iran, a notorious player on the world stage, is showing the world its true colors again. With nationwide protests erupting, the regime, in a predictable tyrannical move, has decided to cut off the internet and block international calls. This is nothing new. It’s an old trick of oppressive regimes, a page right out of the authoritarian handbook. But where’s the left’s outrage? Not a peep.
It’s easy to get behind a cause when it fits the liberal narrative. Yet, when it involves pointing fingers at a non-Western country or acknowledging the failure of globalist policies, there’s radio silence. The brave souls of Iran are protesting against a government that doesn’t just oppose freedom but actively suppresses it. The liberals, who always have something to say about the so-called oppression in America, suddenly lose their voices when it’s time to cry out against true tyranny.

Technology, supposedly the darling of the progressive left, is being used by the Iranian regime to silence its population. The blanket internet shutdown has made it difficult to track the death toll, but reports are sneaking through. The world needs to hear these stories. The Iranian people want liberty, and they’re risking their lives for it. Yet, the globalist alliances and interests keep many politicians and news outlets silent.
Why is there a hesitance to support these protestors with the same gusto seen in other “righteous” liberal causes? Why aren’t the tech giants, often praised for their “inclusivity,” doing more to help Iranians get their message out? They can reprimand American conservatives, but they shy away from taking a stand against a regime that literally cuts its people off from the world. It’s hypocrisy at its worst.
The silence from liberals is deafening. They conveniently dance around the issue instead of holding these authoritarian leaders accountable. The Iranian people yearn for what we all have, and it is a disgrace that their cries for help are going unanswered by those who claim to champion human rights. It’s time to ask: If the left isn’t standing up for freedom now, will they ever?
