In a move that reeks of political correctness and attempts to erase history, Fort Hood, a U.S. Army base named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, will be renamed to Fort Cavazos after General Richard Edward Cavazos, the first Hispanic four-star general. This decision comes as part of a plan to remove Confederate names from military assets.
The decision to rename the base after General Cavazos is said to be in honor of his distinguished service during the Korean and Vietnam wars, as well as his leadership of the III Armored Corps at Fort Hood from 1980 to 1982. He was a true hero, earning the Distinguished Service Cross for his bravery in guiding his unit through enemy fire back to safe territory. However, renaming the base after him is simply a way to pander to the political left who are trying to erase the history of our country.
The Naming Commission, formed by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, recommended the change after a request from the League of United Latin American Citizens. This is just another example of the left trying to erase history and replace it with a politically correct version of events. They are trying to erase the name of a great military leader, John Bell Hood, who, despite fighting for the Confederacy, had a reputation for being a courageous soldier who led his troops with distinction.
It is important to remember that every soldier who fought in the Civil War, on whichever side, did so with bravery and honor. They believed they were fighting for a cause they believed in, and that should not be forgotten. Removing the names of Confederate leaders is not only an insult to history, but it is also an insult to the brave men and women who fought for what they believed in.
Furthermore, renaming Fort Hood will do nothing to address the problems facing the base, including the series of suicides and murders that have tragically plagued the base in recent years. Instead of addressing these issues head-on, the military is choosing to focus on politically correct renaming efforts that do nothing to solve the real problems.

In conclusion, the decision to rename Fort Hood to Fort Cavazos is simply a politically correct attempt to erase history. It is important to remember and honor the brave soldiers who fought for what they believed in, rather than trying to rewrite history to fit a political agenda.
