In a recent interview on CBS News’s Face the Nation, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) had some advice for his fellow Democrats. Sanders recognized that their party needs to win back the working class demographic, stating that 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. He noted that 18 million households are devoting at least half of their income to housing expenses.

Sanders didn’t hold back in criticizing corporate greed, stating that the Democratic Party needs to take on this issue. He highlighted the unprecedented profits being made by large corporations and called for an economy that benefits everyone, not just a select few. While he acknowledged that President Joe Biden had made some progress, Sanders believed that more needed to be done in order to win over more voters and secure a second term.
According to Sanders, the Democratic Party needs to focus on winning back the working class by promoting ideas that benefit them. He contrasted these ideas with what he believes Republicans stand for, such as tax breaks for billionaires and prioritizing the needs of corporate America over ordinary Americans.
One specific suggestion Sanders had for the Democratic Party was to campaign on expanding Social Security and Medicare, including coverage for dental and vision. Despite rumors of another presidential bid, Sanders expressed certainty that Biden would be the Democratic nominee.
