In a stunning display of pandering to environmental extremists, President Joe Biden and his administration have decided to halt the permitting process for several proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal projects. That’s right, folks, Biden is on a mission to eradicate the use of natural gas and destroy jobs in the process.
Under the guise of a “rigorous environmental review,” the White House and the Department of Energy (DOE) are using climate change as an excuse to stifle economic growth and bow down to the demands of radical climate activists. These activists have been screeching about the potential increase in emissions and the supposed exacerbation of global warming that these projects could cause.

But let’s not be fooled by the sweet words of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm. She claims that this move is all about “economic, environmental, and national security considerations.” Well, if she really cared about national security, perhaps she should take a look at the border crisis that Biden has allowed to spiral out of control. It seems like protecting Americans from climate change is more important than protecting them from illegal immigration.
And let’s be honest, when Granholm said the U.S. is committed to affordable energy and economic opportunities for all Americans, what she really meant was that they are committed to driving up natural gas prices and pushing their unproven and unstable “clean energy” alternatives. It’s all part of their plan to appease the radical left and secure their votes.
The Biden administration claims that they are only pausing projects that have gone through the lengthy approval process and are ripe for DOE approval. But the reality is that they are playing politics with energy security. Former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Neil Chatterjee hit the nail on the head when he said that U.S. LNG actually displaces dirtier sources of fuel overseas and lowers global carbon emissions. But of course, the activists conveniently ignore these facts because they don’t fit their narrative.
And let’s not forget the ramifications of this decision on our allies. House Speaker Mike Johnson pointed out that by stalling LNG export terminals, Biden is empowering Russian President Vladimir Putin. American petroleum producers have increased LNG shipments to Europe to prevent them from relying on Russian energy exports. But now, Biden is asking American taxpayers to spend billions to defeat Russia while forcing our allies to depend on their energy. It’s a complete betrayal of our commitments to strengthen energy security and reduce Europe’s dependence on Russia.
So, folks, it’s clear that Biden’s decision to halt LNG export terminal projects is not about protecting the environment or national security. It’s about pandering to the radical left and pushing their agenda at the expense of American jobs and our allies. It’s time to see through the smoke and mirrors and hold this administration accountable for their disastrous policies.
