Special Counsel Robert Hur’s description of Biden as an elderly fellow with a forgetful nature might not be far off, considering the dizzying climb in migration stats over the last few years.
Despite Biden’s claims, unauthorized crossings have soared to dizzying heights throughout his first three years in office. While early 2024 sees a notable dip, it’s essential to put things into perspective: the numbers are still significantly higher than what was seen in the decade prior to Biden’s inauguration. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) numbers serve as a striking reminder that wishing for something to disappear doesn’t actually make it happen.

The reality is, under the Biden-Harris regime, the southern border has remained as inviting as a fast-food joint on a road trip. According to Republicans on the House Committee on Homeland Security, nearly two million “known gotaways” outmaneuvered U.S. Border Patrol with all the ease of a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Meanwhile, the administration continues to let a staggering number of criminal migrants meander through American cities. This cavalcade includes over 13,000 convicted murderers and more than 222,000 individuals facing criminal charges, which begs the question: How is this “keeping America safe”?
The ongoing illegal migrant population saga is similarly perplexing. Estimates from the Pew Research Center put the illegal migrant count at a tidy 11 million in 2022, but skeptics point to numbers that are likely much higher. Numbers are like opinions: everyone has them, but not all are worth paying attention to—especially when the figures come from an administration prone to creative accounting.
While addressing a captivated audience at the State Department, Biden’s off-script remarks further muddied the waters. He took a moment to claim that he had been pushing hard for bipartisan efforts to bolster border security, portraying himself as a true champion of the cause. In a curious twist, he suggested that former President Trump was on the other end of the line, advising him against this noble endeavor out of self-preservation. This alleged exchange seems more fitting for a soap opera script than a political address, leaving some to ponder if the president may have been referring to his own imaginary friends rather than actual political dynamics. As the debate with Trump looms ever closer, the air will be rife with contention over who truly holds accountability for the border crisis.
