Biden Debt Forgiveness Fails to Win Youth Vote Amid Criticism

In 2022, President Joe Biden tried to cancel student loan debt without the proper authority, a move seen by many as an attempt to gain favor with voters. The Supreme Court said no, but that hasn’t stopped him from finding ways to erase more debt, especially for 317,000 Art Institute students, totaling $6.1 billion. Some wonder if these students are more likely to support Biden’s party.

Even media outlets like CNN have criticized Biden’s actions, with Scott Jennings calling out the President’s boasting about the debt cancelation. Biden seems to think this strategy will help him, boldly contrasting it with former President Trump’s stance on student loan forgiveness.

However, Biden’s plan faces criticism, especially as anti-Semitic incidents rise on college campuses. Some worry that by paying off student loans, the government could indirectly support colleges where anti-Semitic sentiments are present. Bill Maher even questioned using taxpayer money to fund such institutions.

Despite Biden’s efforts, his approval among young Generation Z voters, particularly in swing states, remains low. Many feel he is not doing enough to address student loan burdens, even after erasing a significant amount of debt. This tactic doesn’t seem to be rallying young voters as Biden had hoped, with some even protesting against him. It appears that the President’s attempts to win over the youth vote have fallen flat.
