President Joe Biden’s Defense Department has made a puzzling decision to withdraw active-duty troops from the Southern border, despite the fact that we are experiencing a historic surge of illegal migrants. It seems like common sense to keep our military presence strong at the border, but apparently, the Biden administration has other ideas.
The Department of Homeland Security had previously authorized 1,500 active-duty troops to be deployed to the Southern border for a 90-day mission, anticipating an increase in illegal border crossings as pandemic-related asylum restrictions were lifted. Initially, there was a drop in illegal crossings, and apprehensions were on the rise. But instead of recognizing the need for continued support, the Biden administration has decided to withdraw 1,100 troops.

Now, I don’t know about you, but it seems like the Biden administration is playing a dangerous game here. As we all know, illegal migrant encounters skyrocketed to a whopping 130,000 in July after the Biden administration expanded entry programs. And what do they do in response? They pull our troops out of the border. It’s like they’re more interested in appeasing their far-left base than protecting our country.
To add insult to injury, Republican states have taken matters into their own hands by sending their National Guard troops to the Texas border. They have rightfully accused Biden of failing to repel illegals, and I couldn’t agree more. It’s embarrassing that our own states have to step up and fill the capability gaps that the Biden administration is neglecting.
The National Guard deployment is an effort to fill crucial gaps in detecting and monitoring from the ground, as well as providing data entry and warehouse support. These brave men and women are doing the job that the Biden administration should be doing but apparently can’t be bothered with.
It’s clear that the Biden border crisis continues to wreak havoc on our nation, causing chaos and endangering American lives. Yet, the administration seems more interested in upholding their misguided ideology than in protecting our borders. It’s time for them to wake up and face the reality of the situation. Our country’s security should be their top priority, not playing politics.
