Biden Stumbles Again at White House Creator Economy Conference, Forgets Grandchild

President Joe Biden recently hosted a so-called “Creator Economy Conference” at the White House, and surprise, surprise, his performance was riddled with more gaffes and confusion than a toddler running through a fine china shop. Kicking off with a quip about the press—wondering aloud if they were the real or fake deal—Biden couldn’t resist adding, with a smirk, that it was just a joke. As if any American is going to laugh off the president’s jab at the media, which he’s long claimed to hold in such high esteem.

And when it comes to family matters, Biden’s attempts were equally disastrous. As he waxed poetic about his “sprawling bunch of grandchildren,” he failed to mention Hunter’s daughter, Navy Joan, completely at a public event designed to showcase sunny familial values and unity. It seems that forgetting the child of his own son is par for the course when it comes to the Biden family. Still, who can keep track when even he can’t remember the names of his own grandchildren—or perhaps he doesn’t want to acknowledge his son’s latest scandal?

Biden managed to deliver a rambling soliloquy on political division, summoning forth images of bygone civility. Ironically, the backdrop of his presidency has been marked by a deepening of those very divisions, often stoked by his words. It’s hard to take a lecture on unity seriously from a man who has spent most of his presidency pointing fingers instead of reaching across the aisle—especially at a time when he himself is viewed as a key player in the very environment he deplores.

In what could only be described as a cherry-picking of self-pity, he lamented the dismal state of political trust in America. The irony is thick here—how can a president, presiding over what many view as a chaotic government, bemoan the loss of trust while failing to take responsibility for the erosion of confidence his own policies have caused? This is especially rich coming from a leader who has consistently shifted blame while his administration faces rampant inflation and economic mismanagement known as “Bidenomics.”

While the highlight of the event was Biden’s obligatory mention of his administration’s supposed successes, like “fair drug pricing” initiatives, he distractedly rambled about how the media was “good people” who just didn’t like him. It’s a rather convenient narrative for Biden, who had enjoyed mostly cushy coverage until the press finally began, begrudgingly, to take a closer look at his capabilities—something the average American has been doing for quite some time. With the press finally waking up, Biden’s instinct is to keep them at arm’s length while throwing around accusations that they’ve turned on him.

As the event wound down, Biden stated he was “looking for a job,” drawing laughter from the attendees. Perhaps that’s the silver lining here: even in his confusion and missteps, he inadvertently pointed to the impending search for a new leader in 2024. And with prices soaring and inflation tightening its grip on American families, there’s little doubt that the electorate will be looking for change. Just like many, Biden seems to be aware—if only just—of the precarious position he finds himself in, even if he’s not quite able to articulate it.
