In a disturbing turn of events, the Biden administration has chosen to honor a man who dedicated his life to violence against police officers. President Joe Biden’s administration decided to recognize Tortugita, a man who left behind what Jesse Watters of Fox News called “the diary of a serial killer.” It is truly astonishing that a corrupt government would choose to promote such a twisted individual.
The context for this decision is the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, which took place on Monday. The Human Rights Campaign reported that at least 26 transgender and gender non-conforming individuals have lost their lives to violence in 2023, referring to it as an “epidemic of violence.” While it is tragic to see anyone fall victim to violence, it is equally troubling that the Biden administration would choose to honor someone who advocated for violence against police officers.

Tortugita, who preferred to be addressed with they/them pronouns, was involved in a confrontational incident with police officers in Atlanta. This incident resulted in Tortugita’s death and was part of a larger operation to address the violent protests that had plagued the area for over a year. The protesters had engaged in what Governor Brian Kemp described as “domestic terrorism,” as they tried to prevent the construction of a police training facility. Despite the violent nature of this confrontation, the Biden administration wanted the public to remember Tortugita as a “radiant, joyful, beloved” individual.
However, revelations about Tortugita’s diary paint a very different picture. Jesse Watters revealed that the diary contained hate-fueled language and violent fantasies, worse than the manifesto of a transgender mass shooter. The diary contained exhortations such as “Killing cops is okay!! Dead cops! Dead cops everywhere!” and included drawings depicting violence against police officers. It is deeply troubling that the Biden administration would choose to honor an individual with such extreme views.
The decision to honor Tortugita raises serious questions about the mental state and values of those in power. It is difficult to comprehend how anyone could celebrate a person who fantasizes about murder. Those who complain about “misgendering” and demand others use their chosen pronouns also demonstrate a concerning level of narcissism or mental illness. The actions of the Biden administration in this case cannot be dismissed as mere mental illness, leaving us with the uncomfortable conclusion that narcissism or evil are at play.
When right and wrong, good and evil, truth and lies are inverted, we have truly entered a dystopian reality where only force remains to shape our world. It is disheartening to witness the promotion of individuals like Tortugita, and it serves as a stark reminder of the dangerous path our society is on.
