President Joe Biden sparked controversy on social media after sharing a photo of his extravagant 81st birthday cake on Instagram. The image shows the president seated at a grand table, flames engulfing the massive cake in front of him. Biden couldn’t contain his delight as he extended his arms, gripping the edge of the table as if he were reigning supreme.

In his caption, Biden graciously thanked everyone for their birthday wishes, cheekily acknowledging that there simply wasn’t enough space for all the candles on his 146th birthday. It seems age hasn’t dampened his charm or sense of humor, or perhaps he’s just trying to distract us from the chaos of his presidency.
Once social media users caught a glimpse of the photo, they wasted no time in airing their grievances. One individual couldn’t help but point out Biden’s inability to even call a ceasefire on his own birthday cake, referencing the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Another commenter took a more somber tone, reminding the president of the thousands of children who will never reach their 18th birthday due to his policies. And of course, someone had to ask if the blazing cake was a metaphor for the state of America under Biden’s leadership.
It’s not the first time the president has made light of his age. In 2023, he jokingly remarked that turning 60 was a challenge before proceeding to pardon two turkeys for Thanksgiving. Biden has attempted to reassure the public, claiming that his extensive political career has only granted him more wisdom. However, his actions and decisions continue to raise concerns about his ability to effectively lead the nation.
