President Biden’s critics wasted no time in resurrecting the “Creepy Joe” nickname after his latest peculiar interaction with a young girl. The incident occurred at a dinner on Sunday that was held to honor service members and their families. As Mr. Biden approached the young girl, he exclaimed, “I love your ears,” referring to her Mickey Mouse ears. He then asked for her name, to which she bashfully replied, “Catherine.”

In response, Mr. Biden remarked, “What a beautiful name. That’s my mommy’s name.” He then proceeded to make a puzzling comment, asking, “How old are you, 17?” When the girl shook her head, another girl chimed in, “No, she’s six.” Mr. Biden feigned surprise, exclaiming, “Six?”
Despite the Associated Press reporting that Mr. Biden “lightheartedly bent down and joked with a 6-year-old” at the “Friendsgiving” dinner, social media commentators wasted no time in labeling the exchange as yet another instance of his cringeworthy behavior. People voiced their concerns, with one PragerU host pleading, “Can someone please keep this man away from children?” The comments ranged from calling him a “creep” to describing the encounter as “ultra cringe,” “pure cringe,” and “beyond creepy.”
Mr. Biden has faced criticism in the past for his interactions with young girls. An example of this occurred in 2015 during Senator Chris Coons’ swearing-in ceremony when Mr. Biden held Coons’ daughter, 13-year-old Maggie, by the arm, whispering into her ear and kissing her on the head as she leaned away. Mr. Coons later defended Mr. Biden, saying that his daughter did not find the vice president creepy.
Similar incidents have been documented, including Mr. Biden kissing the top of a young girl’s head and playfully rearranging another girl’s hair. In 2015, at former Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s swearing-in, Mr. Biden stood behind Mr. Carter’s wife and placed his hands on her shoulders while whispering in her ear. Although she appeared uncomfortable, she later stated that Mr. Biden was merely offering his support.
Even in July of the current year, Mr. Biden faced accusations of creepiness when he nibbled on the shoulder of a young girl in Finland as her mother held her. The girl quickly turned away before Mr. Biden could give her a peck on the head.
It seems that comparing young girls to older teenagers is not a new trend for Mr. Biden either. In 2021, he commented on a veteran’s daughter, saying, “I love those barrettes in your hair, man.” From the podium, he then remarked, “I’ll tell you what, look at her—she looks like she’s 19 years old sitting there like a little lady with her legs crossed.” This girl was reportedly of elementary-school age.
In 2019, a former Democratic congressional candidate, Lucy Flores, accused Mr. Biden of touching her shoulders, smelling her hair, and planting a “big slow kiss” on the back of her head at a campaign event in 2014. Flores stated that the incident prompted her to speak out about Mr. Biden’s close interactions with women and young girls, including his nuzzling of the neck of the defense secretary’s wife, kissing a senator’s wife on the lips, whispering in women’s ears, and snuggling with female constituents. Flores expressed that she witnessed obvious discomfort on the faces of these women, suggesting that Mr. Biden showed little concern for how his actions made them feel.
In 2019, the pro-Trump Great America PAC even released a video titled “Creepy Joe Biden,” which highlighted Mr. Biden’s close encounters with girls and women. It seems that these incidents continue to fuel concerns and criticisms regarding his behavior.
