In a stunning revelation, Gene Hamilton, a former counselor to the U.S. Attorney General during the Trump administration, has claimed that President Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) is shamelessly violating its own “Justice Manual” with its indictments of former President Donald Trump. Hamilton, currently serving as the vice president and general counsel of America First Legal, made these accusations during a panel discussion hosted by the Heritage Foundation.
The panel, provocatively titled “Is the Justice System Rigged Against Trump?” aimed to examine the widespread belief that the DOJ, federal law enforcement agencies, and some state prosecutors are operating a rigged system of justice, with Trump’s indictments as the prime example. Clearly, there is cause for concern. Hamilton honed in on the timing of these federal indictments and trials, arguing that they blatantly breach the clause regarding “initiating and declining charges.” His analysis is meticulous, pointing out that the documents case is scheduled to begin on May 20, 2024, right in the midst of the Republican presidential primary race. As if that weren’t suspicious enough, the 2020 election interference case is conveniently set for March 4, 2024, just before Super Tuesday.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that this is a “flagrant” violation of the DOJ’s rules. Hamilton asserts that the Department of Justice is shamelessly disregarding its very own policies, openly manipulating the timing of these cases for political gain. It’s quite obvious what Biden’s DOJ is up to; they’re playing politics, plain and simple. This isn’t justice, it’s a witch hunt driven by a partisan agenda. Hamilton’s arguments strike at the heart of the matter and highlight the transparency of their misguided intentions.
The American people aren’t blind; they see through these political maneuvers and recognize that the indictments are nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to undermine a previous administration and sway public opinion. It’s time for accountability and fairness to prevail in our justice system. The question remains: What can be done about these clear violations of justice? Can we trust the DOJ under Biden’s leadership to hold itself accountable? We need leaders who prioritize the rule of law and restore faith in our institutions. The time for action is now.
