It was back in July 2022 when President Biden promised a grand climate emergency declaration. This claim was accompanied by heart-wrenching tales of his youth, like using a cloth to wipe off his windshield from the imaginary pollution in his hometown. After a belabored ten months of silence post-COVID emergency declaration—and presumably, an unfortunate stumble or two—Biden is now stirring the pot again, with his special climate envoy, John Kerry, sounding the alarm about needing to act on this so-called emergency.

The Biden administration’s track record with “emergencies” is about as appealing as a soggy sandwich found in a lunch bag two weeks after school ends. Americans remember the havoc wreaked by the previous pandemic proclamation, which delivered a swift kick to personal freedoms, shuttered businesses, and decimated children’s education. Now, as this administration continues to fumble through international conflicts and crippling inflation, they are poised to bring on a new age of strangling climate control.
With Kerry’s latest declarations, there hangs the potential for policies reminiscent of COVID lockdowns—think censorship about climate change, rationing food and energy, and regulating the mundane acts of daily life such as driving and laundry. If that sounds absurd, one only needs to remember how the last “emergency” turned out. Residents could soon find themselves in a world where their freedoms are traded for all manner of restrictions in the name of climate science, which has evolved to requiring everyone to consume the “right kind” of energy—even if it means footing the bill for nations more concerned about solar panels than human rights.
Under the guise of an emergency, Biden could seize even more power than his administration already holds. Reports indicate that he would gain newfound abilities to order the production of “clean energy” technologies, shove renewables onto military bases—because why not?—and potentially halt crude oil exports, severely hindering American independence and driving energy prices even higher. The irony of buying oil from the likes of despotic regimes while neglecting domestic production is not lost on many, yet here we are, with the administration practically handing out VIP passes to incompetence.
Biden’s ever-growing list of blunders abroad—from the catastrophic pullout from Afghanistan to muddled policies in Ukraine and Israel—has already left a trail of political debris. Adding an all-encompassing climate emergency to this record might just be the nail in America’s proverbial coffin, paving yet another path for Trump to clean up the mess. But hey, at least it keeps the climate alarmists’ hopes alive—while the rest of the country holds its breath, wondering just how far the government plans to plunge before they find the brakes.
A climate emergency may not be on the immediate horizon, but with Biden’s hand hovering over the ignition switch, it is only a matter of time before Americans are faced with another round of restrictions that promise to make life a whole lot more complicated—and considerably more expensive.
