Biden’s Re-Election Bid: Hiding Again or Just Lost?

It has been more than a month since President Biden “announced” his bid for re-election, but there hasn’t been much campaign activity surrounding him since then. This lack of enthusiasm for campaigning was recently questioned by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, who asked Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if the president would be holding any campaign events.

Jean-Pierre was evasive in answering the question, stating that the decision to hold campaign events would come from the campaign and the DNC, not from her office. This non-answer suggests that President Biden and his team may not be excited to hit the campaign trail, possibly due to his 2020 strategy of hiding in his basement and his declining inability to speak coherently in public.

Even Biden’s own White House aides have grown frustrated with his light schedule, which is designed to minimize the chances of a viral meme-worthy moment. The president’s speeches are often filled with strange whispers and sudden yelling. Additionally, the White House rarely puts Biden in settings where he might face hostile questions from reporters. This bubble makes it difficult for the public to appraise the reality of Biden, the oldest president in US history.

Looking ahead, it’s unlikely that President Biden will become a more energetic campaigner. Instead, he will probably rely on surrogates to do the campaigning for him. This means the country can expect more speeches from First Lady Jill Biden and more “do not come” and “si se pwodwe” remarks from Vice President Kamala Harris in the months ahead. While this may be a disappointment for Americans who want a leader who can think and speak for himself, it’s not surprising given Joe Biden’s lackluster performance so far.
