Conservative newsman and self-proclaimed patriot Jonathon Owen Shroyer has found himself in a bit of a pickle. This week, Shroyer was sentenced to a whopping 60 days in the slammer for what some left-wing snowflakes are calling “speech crimes.” Can you believe it? Apparently, the charges stem from some shenanigans that went down on January 6, 2021, in our nation’s capital.
The Department of Justice claimed that Shroyer unlawfully entered restricted areas and engaged in some rowdy behavior on the Capitol Grounds. Now, I don’t know about you, but “violent entry and disorderly conduct” sounds like just another Tuesday for some of these politicians in D.C. But apparently, when a conservative has something to say, it’s suddenly a crime.
Shroyer is a texan through and through and hosts a talk show for the website Infowars. He’s been a vocal critic of the 2020 Presidential Election results and was calling for action to be taken against the certification of the Electoral College vote. You’ve got to admire a guy who’s not afraid to speak his mind, especially when so many others just want to sweep everything under the rug and pretend like nothing ever happened.
The prosecution claims that Shroyer’s words and actions contributed to the atmosphere that led to the breach of the Capitol. But let’s be real here, folks. Shroyer was never linked to any actual violence or vandalism inside the Capitol. Sure, he was in the restricted area and had a previous court order to stay away from the U.S. Capitol, but can you blame a guy for wanting to cover a significant event? Freedom of the press, am I right?
The DOJ recommended a 120-day prison term for Shroyer, arguing that he disseminated election disinformation to a massive audience. But isn’t that just another way of saying he shared his opinion? Last time I checked, we had this thing called the First Amendment that protects our right to free speech, no matter how unpopular it may be.
Look, Shroyer may have had some fiery speeches and calls to action, but that’s just part of being a passionate conservative. We don’t settle for sitting back and letting the left walk all over us. We stand up, we fight back, and we make sure our voices are heard. Shroyer’s actions on January 6 were nothing more than a display of his love for this country and his dedication to preserving the republic. And for that, he’s getting thrown in jail. What a world we live in.
