CA Minimum Wage Hike Claims First Victim: 20 Jobs Fried!

A California restaurant closed its doors permanently Monday morning. The state’s new minimum wage law aiming to shut down fast food spots was just going into effect, and it looks like it hit its target like a bullseye. Ah, the sweet sound of liberal policies at work!

Employees at a Fosters Freeze franchise in Lemoore were left out in the cold when they showed up for work only to find that their boss was giving them their pink slips along with their final paychecks. Ouch! In total, 20 employees got the boot due to owner Loren Wright’s abrupt decision to shut down shop.

Wright blamed the heartless lawmakers in Sacramento for pushing him to the brink. “I tried my darnedest to keep the business afloat, but those bigwigs in the capital forced my hand,” he said. You know it’s serious when even the boss is pointing fingers at the politicians.

The real kicker here is the new law that forces businesses running more than 60 locations to fork over $20 to unskilled workers. Wright went on to call out the absurdity of the 120-percent-plus minimum wage hike over the last decade, saying, “Small businesses can’t survive that kind of increase. We’re all worse off now than we were 10 years ago. Raising the minimum wage isn’t helping anyone.”

But wait! There’s more! Monica Navarro, the assistant general manager at the restaurant, was left shell-shocked when she arrived for her shift only to find Wright doling out paychecks and a locksmith sealing the fate of the business right before her eyes. What a delightful surprise for a Monday morning! Navarro expressed her disbelief, saying she thought it was all just a cruel April Fool’s joke. Yikes!

In an interview with Fox Business, Navarro revealed that Wright blamed the shutdown on the minimum wage increase. She lamented the lack of notice and expressed doubts about the new law actually achieving its intended goals. “I honestly don’t think the minimum wage law will work. This is not the first business that’s closing. This is just the beginning,” she said.

But just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, Navarro predicted tough times ahead for fast-food workers thanks to California’s new wage law. She pleaded with the public to be kind to them, as they’ll likely be dealing with reduced hours, small shifts, and irate customers thanks to menu price increases.

Well, folks, it looks like another liberal policy has worked its magic and left hard-working Americans out of a job. Will California ever learn? Only time will tell. But in the meantime, keep an eye on those policies and don’t be afraid to speak up. After all, someone has to hold the politicians accountable for their disastrous decisions.
