CNN’s O’Sullivan and Lorenz Mock Victim’s Family in Bizarre Broadcast

In a recent display that could only be labeled as absurdity wrapped in woke ideology, CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan showcased a disturbingly humorous camaraderie with Taylor Lorenz, a former reporter now turned internet personality — also known for her ability to stir the pot of progressive nonsense. Their exchange centered around the alleged assassin of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who’s being hailed as a modern-day Robin Hood by the left, a claim so rich it needs its own wealth redistribution.

Instead of letting Lorenz hang herself with dubious praises for 26-year-old Luigi Mangione—who stands accused of gunning down Thompson in New York City—O’Sullivan leaned in, chuckling along with her as she referred to him as a “morally good man.” One can only wonder what kind of mental gymnastics are required to transform a cold-blooded murderer into some sort of folk hero. If dating assassins is the new trend, it may be time for society to check itself.

Lorenz, who previously served as a culture and technology columnist for the Washington Post until her own controversies about labeling Biden a “war criminal” led to a messy exit, seems to have found a comfortable niche pandering to radicals while spinning ludicrous narratives. In her latest CNN appearance, she didn’t miss a beat in extolling the virtues of the criminal mind, as though Mangione’s actions were just misunderstood art. Unfortunately for O’Sullivan, this whole fantasy didn’t come without backlash.

As both laughed and japed about how women might prefer to “swipe right” on a murderer than on a CNN reporter, their tone elicited disgust from viewers. Comments flooded in like a tide of reason amidst the chaos, reminding both O’Sullivan and Lorenz of the real-world implications of their lighthearted banter. After all, Brian Thompson’s children are left to grapple with the reality of their father’s assassination, while these two toss around jokes like they’re discussing the latest viral TikTok dance.

Fortunately for the victims and their families, the Trump administration has taken a decidedly different approach to Mangione’s alleged crimes. As U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the decision to seek the death penalty at Trump’s behest, a clear message was sent: there’s no glorifying crime when it comes to justice. Bondi’s commitment to making America safe again stands in sharp contrast to the cluelessness of leftists like Lorenz and her CNN audience, who would rather romance the idea of rebellion than face grim reality.

While Lorenz may see rising admiration for an assassin as “progress,” it’s hard to see how anyone can be misguided enough to think that violent crime should be met with applause rather than condemnation. In the battle of ideas, it appears many on the left are simply throwing logic out the window, all while the rest of America watches in disbelief—and apparently some amusement.
