Another sensational cold case has been solved by the diligent law enforcement officials of Alabama. The mutilated remains of Jefferey Douglas Kimzy, a mere twenty years old and hailing from California, were found decomposing in the Alabama woods. The heart, spleen, hands, and feet of the unfortunate victim were removed with surgical precision and bound with rope. “Someone went to great lengths to hide the identity of our victim and the cause of his death,” Chief Investigator Keith Wilson tells WHNT. Moreover, investigators found air fresheners surrounding the body, indicating the perpetrators tried to reduce the stench of their grisly deed.
Now, 26 years later, investigators are finally closing in on the criminals. New advancements in DNA analysis helped answer the perplexing question of who exactly Kimzy was and has reopened the cold case. After Paragon NanoLabs created a composite image of the victim using DNA phenotyping, officials found a close match with living relatives in Tennessee and were able to trace the victim to his parents in California. DNA samples from both parents were then used to positively identify Kimzy as the victim, according to a press release by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.
With this new information, officials are actively pursuing persons of interest in this case. Law enforcement is even using DNA items found at the scene to further their investigation. This just goes to show that, despite all efforts to evade justice, the law will always find you. The conservative republicans of Alabama thank their diligent law enforcement officials for staying on this case for 26 years and bringing justice to the deceased and their family.
