Cop Plays Peek-a-boo as Trump Dodges Assassin’s Bullet

Everyone’s got that one guy in the group project who’s just there for the free grade, but in Biden’s America, it seems some law enforcement officers might have taken that to a whole new level. Last Saturday, a local cop reportedly played peek-a-boo with an aspiring assassin on a Pennsylvania rooftop, and guess who the target was? None other than Donald J. Trump.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, living up to his name, apparently thought he could pull off a grand heist of American democracy. Tipped off by bystanders—yes, the people who actually pay attention and keep America running—a local officer clambered up to the roof where Crooks was lying in wait with his rifle. Instead of playing John Wayne, however, the officer played Chicken Little and skedaddled when Crooks pointed his firearm at him. Surprise, surprise.

What happened next is like a scene out of a poorly-written action flick. Crooks managed to fire shots, and Trump, fortunately, only got grazed on the ear. But the real tragedy here, aside from the obvious security lapse, was the death of a rally attendee, Corey Comperatore. Look at what gets added to the news feed when bureaucratic bungling meets real-world consequences.

At the post-shooting press conference, Kevin Rojek from the FBI Pittsburgh office confessed he’s baffled that Crooks managed multiple shots. Yeah, Kevin, everyone’s scratching their heads on that one. It’s not like he was hiding in plain sight on a rooftop within spitting distance of Trump’s podium or anything. But hey, at least Biden’s independent investigation will surely get to the bottom of it—right after finding out who left the back door open.

The incident has everyone from ex-Secret Service agents to House Speaker Mike Johnson calling for heads to roll. Dan Bongino, who might know a thing or two about keeping high-profile figures safe, said on Fox News that the Secret Service director should be handing in his resignation. The agents are trained for way more than 150 yards, yet somehow missed a guy in broad daylight on a white roof. Makes one wonder what else might slip past the finest law enforcement.

With scrutiny mounting, expect finger-pointing galore. While the law enforcement dance continues, Americans are left questioning if this is the new normal. One thing’s for sure: the next officer who climbs a roof might want to channel a bit more Clint Eastwood and a lot less Chicken Little.
