A federal court decided to hit the brakes on President Joe Biden’s attempts to rewrite Title IX, much to the relief of those who still believe in biological realities. The ruling, delivered Thursday, put an end to Biden’s dream of letting biological males take the field as women and strut around in women’s spaces. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti was quick to celebrate the legal victory, declaring it a “massive win” for common sense.
Judge Danny C. Reeves, handpicked by George W. Bush, took a firm stance, asserting that discrimination based on sex inherently means discrimination based on being either male or female. He pointed out that trying to shoehorn “gender identity” into the definition of sex is nothing short of a radical alteration. This is more than just a legal debate; it’s a battle over the very integrity of women’s sports and spaces.
Biden’s rather ambitious plan to overtake Title IX began with a bold executive order in January 2021 and was fleshed out with a rule release in April. However, it didn’t take long for the legal fists to start flying. States pushed back, and lawsuits were flying faster than a hot dog vendor at a ball game. By the time December rolled around, the administration was ready to call it quits on their rule revision, as it became increasingly clear that they wouldn’t be able to push it through before the next election cycle.

It seems that the Biden administration’s attempts to redefine basic concepts have finally met their match in the form of a court that values common sense. The ruling has been a breath of fresh air for many who feel that the push to expand Title IX has been nothing less than an assault on women’s rights and athletic opportunities. As the ruling stands, it preserves the original intent of Title IX, which was to protect women’s rights in education and sports.
The White House and the Department of Education must currently be scrambling for a response, though they have curiously remained mum on this important decision. One can only wonder if they’re crafting a lecture on how to respect biological science in the classroom. In any case, conservative Americans are raising their mugs in victory, celebrating a win that reinforces the principles of fairness and equality in athletics.
