According to a report by the New York Post, Mayor Bill de Blasio is in talks to replace Martin Walsh as the new Labor Secretary for Joe Biden.
The newspaper reported that the former mayor of New York City, who was replaced by Eric Adams, wants the position. It was also reported that Walsh would be stepping down from his position as the mayor of Boston after it was reported that he would be taking over as the head of the National Hockey League Players' Association.
According to the report, Walsh has been calling Biden's friends in an attempt to make his case for the position.

During his time as mayor, de Blasio was able to create a record number of jobs in New York City. According to the NYP, he has a long history of working with labor unions. He also regularly negotiates with the city's unions to raise wages.
Hank Sheinkopf, a political consultant, stated that the mayor had a good relationship with the labor unions during his time in office.
Besides de Blasio, the other potential candidates for the position include former Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney and Mike Lawler, who lost his seat in November to a Republican.
When asked about the possibility of becoming the new Labor Secretary, deBlasio did not respond to the request sent by the Daily Caller.
