A massive migrant caravan comprising at least 8,000 people is making its way to the US southern border, aiming to jump the line and barrel their way into the country ahead of the law. This law, which is set to go into effect in March in Texas, would finally allow state police to detain, arrest, and even deport anyone who crosses the border illegally. The audacity of these migrants to think they can just show up at the border and barge their way in is simply outrageous. And as if the situation wasn’t already chaotic enough, the Border Patrol is facing record numbers of crossings, with an overwhelming 242,418 encounters just last month. December is on track to break records again, with as many as 10,000 migrants apprehended every single day at the southwest border.

The nerve of these migrants clinging to the sides of trains and marching in caravans toward the border is beyond belief. They are clearly disregarding the laws of this country and taking advantage of the system. It’s a good thing that the US Customs and Border Patrol is finally taking more aggressive action to halt railway operations at international crossings into Texas, in an effort to stop these migrants from barreling into the country unchecked. The Border Patrol is already strained enough, and it’s about time they took stronger measures to protect our borders.
Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s announcement that the border crossings will remain open is a slap in the face to the efforts of the United States to control its own borders. It’s clear that Mexico isn’t interested in helping solve this crisis, leaving the burden on the already overwhelmed Border Patrol. And to top it off, thousands more asylum seekers are huddled on the Mexican side of the border, waiting for an opportunity to cross into the United States. These asylum seekers from Mexico, Haiti, Venezuela, and Cuba are exploiting the situation and adding even more strain to the already overloaded system.
The blatant disregard for the law and the overwhelming influx of migrants attempting to gain entry into the United States is a direct result of the Biden administration’s weak immigration policies. The federal parole program introduced by the Biden administration earlier this year has only emboldened migrants to take advantage of the situation. It’s time for stricter immigration policies and stronger border control to put an end to this chaos and protect the sovereignty of the United States.
