DeSantis’s office stated that the rescued Americans have been provided with essential resources such as food, water, medical treatment, and transportation back home. The state’s Division Executive Director, Kevin Guthrie, commended the hard work of the State Emergency Response Team, private, and nonprofit partners in facilitating the safe return of the evacuees. This marks the second instance during the Biden administration in which Florida, under DeSantis’s leadership, has rescued Americans from abroad during times of crisis, the first being the evacuation of over 700 Americans from Israel after an attack by Hamas.
