The news of an impeachment investigation shook the Capitol on Tuesday, when Congress came back from its August break. This news is sure to keep things interesting. Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca.) is in the spotlight because people on his right are getting more and more angry and want him to cut spending and do something about Biden. Boy, did McCarthy come through! He said that there will be a formal review into Biden's alleged use of his power to get what he wants. It's about time someone did something about these claims of abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and corruption.

But don't forget that McCarthy has a lot more to do than just removal. He also wants to keep the government from shutting down. And he has made it very clear that the impeachment probe won't go forward if the government is closed. Can you say he's wrong? It's important to face the problem of spending head-on and hold our leaders responsible. But some Republicans who are very strict have other ideas. Take Florida Republican Matt Gaetz as an example. He called McCarthy's investigation "baby steps" and threatened to "vacate the chair" if McCarthy tried to pass a continuing resolution (CR) to keep spending at the same level as before. Gaetz is serious.
The Republicans have been doing a lot of digging and have already found some disturbing proof. Foreign accounts sent millions of dollars to the Biden family, and a former business partner said that Hunter Biden sold his father's "brand" overseas. Isn't it funny that Biden says he doesn't know anything about what his son does, but he still makes time to talk to and meet with his son's business partners? That's a funny thing to happen. McCarthy thinks that these results show that there is a worrying "culture of corruption." Well, someone needed to say it.
Democrats and the White House are, of course, calling the investigation into impeachment a witch hunt based on "conspiracy theories." They say McCarthy gave in to "extremists" in his own party just to keep the government from shutting down. The usual. McCarthy's Democratic counterpart, Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), says the investigation is "illegitimate" and promises to protect Biden until the end. Oh, come on. Let's not act like there isn't a lot of evidence to the contrary. But Democrats are going to be Democrats.
It's clear that McCarthy is the main focus of this situation. He is sticking up for what he believes in, even if it means that people in his own party disagree with him. And even though the Democrats are still playing defense and changing their stories, McCarthy isn't giving up. He deserves praise for standing up for what is right and telling the truth.
