U.S. Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL) shook things up when she appeared on Fox News Wednesday to advocate for a plan that would give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. And get this, she was actually joined by a Democrat colleague, Rep. Hillary Scholten (D-MI). Can you believe it?
We all know that the border crisis has been a real hot topic lately. Republicans in the House have been stepping up and demanding an end to the open border, along with some serious funding for border security. They’ve even been talking about tying it to foreign aid packages, including military aid for Ukraine. Now that’s some serious negotiation right there!

But hold onto your hats because, according to a report from Breitbart News, some Senate Republicans have been pushing for an amnesty deal. Can you believe that? Giving green cards to 50,000 people each year, putting a limit on deportations, and dishing out tens of thousands of work permits? It’s wild!
Now, Rep. Salazar seemed to be totally on board with this wild idea, standing next to her Democrat buddy and endorsing a plan that would set aside a whopping $25 billion for border security. She even talked about putting an end to catch and release, speeding up asylum processing, kicking off mandatory E-Verify, and handing out a bunch of H-2A visas. It’s a whole laundry list of stuff!
But wait, hold the phone! She’s not calling it amnesty. Oh no, she’s calling it “dignity.” Yeah, you heard that right—dignity! According to Salazar, this isn’t about immigration reform, it’s about national security and the economy. She’s saying that businesses need more workers, and they’re already here, so why not just make them legal? No big deal, right?
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, Rep. Scholten jumps in to emphasize that this is the only bipartisan bill in Congress. That’s right, folks! They’re making it crystal clear that this is a different bill than the one the Republicans rolled out last year. Can you believe the nerve of these two? Well, there you have it, folks—the wild world of politics!
