Harris Campaigns in NC as Speculation on Biden’s Future Intensifies

Vice President Kamala Harris has descended upon Fayetteville, North Carolina, to wave the Democratic flag as President Joe Biden takes a breather from COVID-19. As if the country wasn’t amused enough by the administration’s attempts to seem in control, now they’re sending out their VP as Biden recuperates from a virus that half the country has learned to live with. Harris gets the spotlight, and one has to wonder if she’s really campaigning for Biden or just herself.

The speculation about Harris taking Biden’s place has reached new heights, especially given the persistent noise from Democrats who are whispering—okay shouting—that Biden might want to step aside, especially after that little hiccup with the alleged assassination attempt on Trump. Oh yes, nothing like a dramatic twist in the political saga to keep the popcorn popping.

Apparently, Harris is the crown jewel the Democrats are polishing up for the next presidential nominee, just in case Biden decides he prefers the tranquility of Delaware over the chaos of the Oval Office. Yes, she’s the favorite among party elites who believe she can hold the fort amidst Biden’s ever-mounting list of troubles.

But let’s not forget this little detail: North Carolina is no ordinary state; it’s a critical battleground. As Harris preaches her gospel, hoping to win hearts and votes, Trump is comfortably leading in the state’s polls. RealClearPolitics shows Trump at 47.2% to Harris’s 41.5%, illustrating how much ground the Democrats must cover if they’re to have any shot at victory come election season.

So while Harris works the crowd in Fayetteville, the reality remains that this performance might be a solo audition for a gig that an increasing number of Democrats hope will materialize sooner rather than later. The Right can grab their popcorn and watch; it’s going to be an entertaining ride.
