In a shameless attempt to dodge a House of Representatives subpoena, Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, pulled off a sneaky news conference on the Senate side of Capitol Hill. The younger Biden was set to face questioning in a closed-door deposition related to an investigation into his alleged corruption, but instead, he opted to ignore the subpoena and make a grandiose declaration of innocence at his carefully orchestrated media event.

Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram laid bare the shenanigans, explaining that House Oversight Chairman James Comer could have called on the Sergeant at Arms to arrest Hunter for flouting the subpoena had he shown up on the House side. But with Hunter gallivanting across the Senate side, the House Sergeant at Arms had no authority to compel his appearance. It’s a clever tactic, but a deceptive one at best.
Notorious former Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a former chairman of the House Oversight Committee, minced no words in expressing his outrage at Hunter’s pompous charade. Chaffetz railed against Hunter’s audacity, highlighting the glaring irony of his evasion when compared to the full cooperation offered by members of the Trump family during their own testimonies.
Even social media lit up with condemnation, with podcaster Benny Johnson and Donald Trump Jr. both calling out the glaring hypocrisy in the treatment of Hunter Biden compared to themselves. Trump Jr. resoundingly proclaimed that he’s eager to see the media outrage over Hunter’s snub match the fervor they had when he faced congressional subpoenas.
The House Oversight Committee has meticulously documented countless instances of the Bidens pocketing exorbitant amounts from foreign entities, setting the stage for what could be a colossal showdown if Republicans take a strong stand against the Biden family corruption. And let’s be honest, if they don’t, then they’re just as undeserving of their cushy taxpayer-funded positions as the 46th president. That’s right, I said it.
So, what’s the next move? Well, House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan have unequivocally declared their intent to initiate contempt of Congress proceedings against Hunter Biden. It’s about time someone held his feet to the fire.
If Republicans don’t seize this golden opportunity and take a decisive stand, then they might as well pack up their offices and head home because they’ve clearly lost their fire. But if they do step up to the plate and confront the Biden family’s corruption head-on, then they will prove they still have that fighting spirit that has been sorely missed. The ball’s in their court, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Let’s see who has the guts to play hardball.
