Justice Lantry Crushes DA’s Overreach: No More COVID Passport Witch Hunt!

In a stunning display of common sense, Supreme Court Justice Brendan T. Lantry delivered a much-needed reality check to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Lantry dismissed felony charges against two individuals accused of purchasing counterfeit COVID-19 vaccine passports, rightfully stating that pursuing such severe charges was completely disproportionate. It’s about time someone put a stop to this madness!

Lantry didn’t hold back in his rebuke of Bragg’s office, pointing out the clear hypocrisy in their approach to justice. He highlighted the fact that Bragg’s office regularly dismisses far more serious crimes “in the interests of justice,” yet decided to go after individuals accused of buying fake vaccine passports with a vengeance. It’s almost as if they have their priorities completely backwards!

The ruling also shed light on a larger issue with Bragg’s office. It exposed a systemic problem of arbitrary decision-making and inconsistency in prosecutorial practices. It’s clear that Bragg’s team is playing favorites and picking and choosing which crimes they want to pursue with any kind of severity. That’s not justice, that’s political theater.

Sure, falsifying a healthcare database may be a serious offense, but the judge was able to see through the hysteria and empathize with the defendants in this case, J.O. and R.V. Their actions, while illegal, were far less harmful in nature compared to the more serious crimes that Bragg regularly dismisses without a second thought. One of the defendants, J.O., was even a nursing student who eventually received the vaccine. Talk about mitigating circumstances!

The court also took into account the defendants’ history and character, recognizing the lack of prior criminal records for J.O. and the rehabilitation efforts of R.V. after a previous conviction. It’s refreshing to see a judge consider the entirety of a person’s circumstances instead of blindly following a one-size-fits-all approach to sentencing.

In the end, this ruling shines a light on the need for consistency and fairness in our criminal justice system. It’s time for district attorneys like Alvin Bragg to stop playing politics with people’s lives and start focusing on true justice. Let this be a wake-up call for Bragg and others like him who have lost sight of what their role really entails.
