In a recent display of irony, the vice president donned a striking $62,000 gold necklace during a visit to the southern border, a location she and President Biden have primarily used as a backdrop for photo opportunities rather than genuine engagement with the crisis at hand.
One can’t help but appreciate the comedic timing of such an ostentatious accessory while attempting to project solidarity with working-class Americans. This little bling certainly throws a wrench into her narrative of having humble origins, especially considering her background includes a mother who was a biomedical scientist and a father who was a Stanford professor. The notion of being “middle class” appears to lose some credibility when adorned with luxury items that are exorbitantly priced by anyone’s standard.

Critics noted that her high-end jewelry only magnifies her aloofness amid one of the most critical issues facing the nation today. After all, how can she lecture anyone about border security while parading wealth that most Americans can only dream of?
Despite her desperate attempts to portray herself as a compassionate leader, the turkey shoot continues, with Harris attempting to gaslight the public into believing she has a genuine concern for the border situation. The optics of her visit were more geared towards crafting a false narrative than providing real solutions. With nearly four years of evidence suggesting apathy and incompetence, she stands as a testament to the phrase “all flash, no substance.”

It becomes difficult to ignore the unnerving thought of such a person having any responsibility for the future of the nation. The American public deserves leadership that understands their struggles—something Harris clearly fails to embody.
