White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre caused quite a stir on Tuesday when she completely disregarded the fentanyl crisis happening across the United States. When a Fox News reporter asked her about the cartels killing Americans on the southern border with drugs, Jean-Pierre made some outlandish claims. She said that fentanyl was at “historic lows” because of President Biden’s efforts at the border.
Fuller KJP comments on fentanyl are…yikes: “B/c of the work that this President has done, b/c of what we’ve done specifically on fentanyl at the border, it’s at historic lows. Historic levels that we have been able to record — a number of personnel working to secure the border”

The spokesperson claimed that due to the excellent work that the president has done, especially about fentanyl, its presence at the southern border is at an all-time low that has never been recorded before. Jean-Pierre credited the vice president, Kamala Harris’s, effort, with which she secured the borders, stopping the flow of illegal drugs, including fentanyl.
Possible misspeak? In no way is fentanyl at “historic lows”. Seizures and ODs have hit record highs.
KJP appears to be implying that record high seizures are a good thing. It’s a double edged sword. Border officials will tell you they only catch a fraction of what comes… https://t.co/akCG1IHRNX

Historic low???? Fact-checkers asleep at the wheel again. And it's intentional. https://t.co/uwWG14gKWu

According to DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, cartels are “killing Americans with fentanyl at catastrophic and record rates like we've never seen before.”
To claim success amid this devastation is an insult to the hundreds of thousands who have lost loved ones. https://t.co/TwCzH7IRGP

However, various critics immediately responded by raising concerns that the spokeswoman’s claims were entirely false. Anne Milgram, the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration, had already confirmed that Mexican cartels were behind the fentanyl crisis affecting America. The DEA confirmed that two cartels in Mexico, the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, are killing Americans with fentanyl at an alarming and catastrophic rate never seen before.
It is not surprising that drug epidemic-related deaths have reached new heights in 2021, with fentanyl being the main culprit, as The New York Times reports. It’s apparent that the Biden-Harris administration has not done enough to combat the fentanyl crisis, with their efforts yielding little to no positive results. The White House Press Secretary’s claims were out of touch and highly misleading, making it evident that the administration is more interested in trying to hide their failures than facing the problem head-on.
In conclusion, it’s time for the Biden-Harris administration to step up their game and start prioritizing saving the lives of the American people from the fentanyl crisis. The country cannot afford to have a leadership team that continues to overlook the devastating impact of illegal drugs on their citizens, especially when the situation is at an all-time high.
