The recent attempts on the life of former President Donald Trump seem to be a shocking narrative playing out in the liberal media, but perhaps the real shock is how these same media outlets seem to be shifting blame for such violence. In a world where rhetoric should mean something substantial, to see the left suggesting that Trump ‘had it coming’ feels like a line out of a bad play, not reality.
Looking back at the notorious “Cell Block Tango” from the musical “Chicago,” there’s a memorable refrain that echoes in the ears of conservatives stuck watching the media’s circus: “He had it coming.” This refrain pops up with alarming frequency as journalists and pundits twist their narratives to fit an agenda that criminalizes conservative thought and action. Instead of condemning the violence directed at a former president, many on the left would rather dissect Trump’s past statements for hints of provocations.
