A TikTok user, who apparently has more thoughts to share than she does tax filings, suggested that the world would be better off without Tesla’s Elon Musk. Thankfully, Ed Martin, the acting United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, is on the case.
Martin’s interest in the matter is sparked not just by the outrageous assassination suggestion, but by the rebellious spirit of the woman making the threats. Known as “sarahcroberts,” she revealed that she hasn’t bothered to file her taxes in eight years, flaunting her audacity like a badge of honor while calling for violence against one of the world’s most innovative CEOs. It’s truly a wonder that anyone with such a cavalier attitude toward tax compliance thinks they can simultaneously scale the moral high ground. But what truly elevated the whole situation was her flamboyant gesturing, which appeared to mimic a throat cutting— a gesture no doubt that many would find amusing if it weren’t so disturbing.

Martin’s response to her threats was swift and somewhat sarcastic, assuring her that her threats had been duly noted and that she would be “put in the system.” It’s as if he’s sending a cheeky reminder that no one, regardless of how many TikTok followers they have, is above the law—unless, of course, one is a tax-dodging provocateur. Martin’s hashtag, “#NoOneIsAboveTheLaw,” could have also been “#HowDareYouChallengeMusk,” as the notion that anyone in the government would take action against a woman who openly worships the lack of tax payments is delightful irony.
On top of all this, Musk himself decided to throw his own brand of humor into the mix, calling out the double whammy of a death threat and tax fraud confession. His lack of concern shows just how unfazed he is by threats, especially since he holds the keys to one of the largest electric car companies and dares to question the political status quo. Perhaps he’ll just design a new model called the “Cancel Culture Crusher” and call it a day.
Backtracking just a moment, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Martin has dug into matters that concern the left’s fragile psyche. He’s previously opened investigations into statements made by the likes of Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Robert Garcia regarding Musk and his initiatives. It seems that whenever lawmakers entertain the idea of bullying private-sector leaders who happen to be high-profile, they might just get a stern “talking to” from Uncle Sam.
In the grand tradition of leftist meltdowns over free thinkers like Musk, one things remains clear: the lovers of government overreach can’t quite seem to handle their opponents. Whether it’s threats against innovators or spouting off from the sidelines while failing to meet basic legal obligations, they keep giving new meanings to the phrase “laughing all the way to the bank”—not unlike their relationship with the IRS. Here’s hoping they learn to play by the rules, lest they run into another obstacle known as the law.
