That can strain local grids and aquifers if planners don’t prepare. Saying “no problem” everywhere because the national average looks small is sloppy thinking — it’s the local pockets that need good rules, not sermons from cable studios.
Policy That Puts Locals First — Not Panic or Panic‑Selling
The smart conservative answer is easy: don’t nationalize the debate, but do insist on common‑sense rules. Require data centers to pay for grid upgrades, follow fair groundwater limits, submit transparent usage plans, and compete on sensible taxes and permits. Let counties use zoning and permitting. Relax — But Don’t Be Naive
Levin’s on-air pushback against the AI scare is useful as a counterweight to alarmism. But conservatives should avoid extreme reflexes, too: neither doomsday nor denial helps voters. We can laugh at the scare tactics while also insisting on clear local rules, accountability, and honest cost-sharing. That keeps liberty intact, defends taxpayers, and lets the economy grow. In short: calm, common sense, and local control — not panic, not power grabs.
