MAGA Republican David Giglio, who is aligned with Trump, is demanding that former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy be censured by the House Republicans. McCarthy is being held accountable by Giglio, who is seeking to unseat McCarthy and represent California's 20th Congressional District, for failing to disclose surveillance footage from January 6 during his tenure as speaker.

Giglio is of the opinion that McCarthy's choice to withhold the evidence from the public enabled the FBI and Department of Justice to function with unbridled power, akin to the Gestapo. He posits that prisoners were being held without the right to due process and were subjected to biased trials.
McCarthy's intentions were called into doubt when he disclosed the private security recordings of the Capitol riot to Tucker Carlson of Fox News, despite his initial assurance that he would release the footage. As a consequence of downplaying the gravity of the violence, Tucker Carlson was fired from the network.
McCarthy never disclosed the footage to Carlson during his address, despite having obtained it beforehand. Conversely, House Speaker Mike Johnson, who succeeded him, declared intentions to publish the footage on a publicly accessible website. Former President Donald Trump and Republican legislators have expressed their approval of this decision.
Giglio believes that, apart from advocating for McCarthy's censure, all those who are incarcerated on charges pertaining to January 6 ought to be released and pardoned. In addition, he proposes the dismissal from Congress of a number of the members of the House select committee that lied to the American people and squandered taxpayer funds on a political witch hunt on January 6.
McCarthy should be held accountable by the Republicans in Congress via a formal censure, Giglio argues, placing truth and justice above political advantage. McCarthy's staff has been contacted for comment by The Washington Examiner.
