Anthony James Cross of Billings, Montana, has entered a not guilty plea to federal charges for allegedly threatening to murder President Joe Biden and U.S. Senator Jon Tester. Biden and Tester are both Democrats, which may explain why Cross objects to their existence.

Since his arrest in late April on separate state charges for threatening a neighbor with a pellet pistol, the 29-year-old offender has been imprisoned in the Yellowstone County jail. One cannot help but speculate if Cross believed his pellet gun would be sufficient to kill the President as well. His state charges trial is scheduled for October 30.
After Cross's arrest, the FBI reportedly discovered a YouTube video in which he threatened to kill President Biden and transgender persons. It appears that our beloved Mr. Cross has an aptitude for issuing specific and alarming threats. According to the federal indictment, he wished to "personally kill" Joe Biden on April 10 and threatened the life of Tester on April 17. We do not yet know how these threats were made. Perhaps Cross wrote them on a lavatory wall or dispatched them via carrier pigeon.
The office of Senator Tester prudently decided not to comment on the matter, while the White House ignored an email requesting their opinion. Even the prospect of murder no longer seems to merit the attention of our elected officials. The federal defender for Cross, Gillian Gosch, had no comment on the matter. It appears that voicemails go unanswered when your duty is to defend a man who threatens to kill the President.
Kevin Patrick Smith of Kalispell, Montana, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison last month for threatening to murder Senator Tester via voicemail left at his office. Recently, Montana has undoubtedly revealed its wild side.
It remains to be seen what fate awaits Cross, as well as whether his threats were a ploy for attention or a genuine reflection of his intentions. Montana appears to be a hotbed of political discontent in either case. Stay tuned for additional thrilling news from Big Sky Country.
