Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu isn’t wavering in his determination to put an end to the ruthless Hamas terrorist group, particularly in the wake of their atrocious massacre on October 7. Instead of caving to pressure from outside forces to halt operations in response to the war initiated by Hamas and the relentless weeks of rocket assaults from the Gaza Strip, Netanyahu has declared that the IDF’s efforts in Gaza will be ramping up in the coming days and weeks.
“We’re not slowing down,” Netanyahu asserted. “We’re intensifying our efforts in the days ahead, and this will be a prolonged battle that is far from over.”
This unwavering commitment from Israel comes as Egypt proposed a ceasefire plan that would effectively allow Hamas to persist. Naturally, such a proposition is unacceptable given the terrorists’ determination to replicate the despicable horrors of October 7 repeatedly.

A report from the Associated Press, a news outlet that has previously attempted to portray Israel’s mission to dismantle Hamas as “the most destructive in history,” indicated that Egypt’s plan “falls short” of Israel’s objective of putting an end to Hamas once and for all. It is suggested that the ceasefire proposal doesn’t measure up to Israel’s insistence on maintaining military control over Gaza for an extended period post-war. Moreover, it remains uncertain if Hamas would agree to relinquish power under the proposal.
This narrative from the Associated Press is simply nonsensical. To expect Hamas to willingly surrender power is utterly laughable. The terrorist regime, backed by Iran, could have relinquished power, disarmed, and put an end to hostilities at any point, but they have unequivocally chosen not to. Instead, following the October 7 attack – the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust – they have persisted in launching almost constant rocket attacks aimed at Israeli civilians.
In fact, on Monday, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad rejected the Egyptian proposal, revealing that they were unwilling to relinquish power in the Gaza Strip in exchange for a lasting ceasefire.
It’s evident why they refuse to acquiesce; the terrorist leaders in Gaza place no value on the lives of civilians. If they did, they wouldn’t have used their schools, mosques, and hospitals as staging grounds for their attacks. Hamas’s sole agenda is to continue its savage crusade to obliterate Israel and claim as many Israeli lives as possible in the process.
Therefore, it is imperative for Israel to ensure that Hamas is stripped of power, weapons, and the ability to oppress Gazans or launch attacks on Israelis.
In pursuit of this goal, the IDF has been relentless in tracking down and neutralizing Hamas terrorists, their infrastructure, and their weaponry. Israel has recently divulged more about the terrorist network’s command and control centers in northern Gaza.
Furthermore, the IDF uncovered more Hamas terrorists taking refuge in a school and conducted a raid, discovering a cache of weapons, explosives, and Hamas technology concealed within the facility intended for the use of Gazan children.
Netanyahu is spot on in acknowledging that there is still a long journey ahead for Israel as it endeavors to safeguard its citizens from the atrocities of Hamas. It is untenable for Israel to cease its efforts while Hamas terrorists persist in their attacks, particularly if the ceasefire intends to grant Hamas a say in determining the future of Gaza.
