This will involve worksite enforcement raids aimed at protecting American workers and reinstating the much-lauded “Remain in Mexico” policy that was expedited into the dustbin by the Biden administration on day one.
Homan, bearing the weighty title of Border Czar, recently shared that the specific game plan for these worksite raids is still in the works. This lack of detailed planning has already raised eyebrows, leading Homan to acknowledge that employers might not be pleased with the return of ICE raids. After all, in the brave new world of the Biden presidency, employers have had a free pass to hire undocumented workers without worrying about ICE knocking on their doors.

Joe Biden’s border policies took a sharp left turn in February 2021 when he effectively disarmed ICE by stripping its ability to conduct worksite enforcement. This tactical retreat was described by an agency insider as “abolishing ICE without abolishing ICE,” perfectly capturing the hypocrisy of an administration that started off promising unity and security but delivered chaos and border mismanagement instead.
One key facet of the Trump administration’s immigration strategy—allowing migrants to remain in Mexico while their claims were being processed—will be revived. This initiative was designed to curb the rampant asylum fraud that thrived under lax enforcement. By ensuring that migrants stayed put until their court date, the Trump administration drastically reduced the number of individuals slipping through the cracks into the U.S. interior.
Furthermore, Homan has outlined the plan for constructing soft-sided facilities that will hold migrant adults together with their children upon arriving at the border. While it’s a necessity to treat migrants humanely, it’s clear that conservatives are eager to demonstrate to the American people that immigration enforcement can be effective without losing compassion. The GOP’s emphasis on law and order contrasts sharply with the prior administration’s approach and aims to restore confidence in federal immigration policy.
