Paul Ryan’s Downfall: GOP Needs Culture Warriors, Not Money Minded Wonks

Remember when former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was the darling of the Republican Party? The fiscal wonk with a plan to tackle our out-of-control spending? Well, those days are long gone. According to this news article, Ryan’s star began to fall once he took the Speaker’s gavel, and things only went downhill from there.

But why is Ryan no longer fit for today’s Republican Party? It’s simple: he’s not a culture warrior. And if there’s one thing we need in the GOP, it’s culture warriors. The left has run amok for too long, and it’s time for us to fight back. As the article points out, the two issues of culture and fiscal policy are intertwined. Ignoring the cultural battles only leads to disaster, as we’ve seen with school boards being overrun by cultural Marxists, and men thinking they can compete in women’s sports.

But the GOP is now the defender of cultural norms worth preserving. We must fight to prevent minors from undergoing child mutilation surgeries and prohibit them from being pumped with hormones and puberty blockers to satisfy transgender desires. It’s been said that culture wars are tiring, but that’s everything now. Fighting for what’s right may be exhausting, but it’s what America needs.

And who would have thought that conservatives would become the new feminists? Yes, we are now the protectors of women’s sports and scientific study that shows biological differences between men and women. Meanwhile, the left is busy relegating women to “birthing people.” The right has taken up this mantle, not because we sought it, but because it’s the right thing to do.

In the end, Paul Ryan’s downfall was his ivory tower wonkiness. He refused to engage in the cultural battles that are so important to our country’s future. But the GOP cannot afford to make that same mistake. As long as we have the right to free speech, assembly, and association, we’ll have to fight for what’s right. And that means embracing culture wars, even if they are tiring. Because as President Andrew Shepherd said, “America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight.”
