PETA Targets Gov Noem with Halloween Costume Amid Election Buzz

An animal rights group called People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, recently unveiled a Halloween costume that takes aim at Gov. Kristi Noem from South Dakota. The costume, named “Cricket’s Revenge,” features a mask of the governor’s face with devil horns and a camouflage hat. The outfit includes a fake rifle and a stuffed dog biting the wearer’s neck, symbolizing revenge for Noem’s admission in her memoir that she had shot her dog, Cricket.

PETA’s President, Ingrid Newkirk, criticized Noem’s actions, stating that anyone who would shoot a puppy instead of trying to train it or find it a new home is scarier than any horror movie villain. The costume is designed to allow dog lovers to express their disdain for Noem at Halloween parties.

The costume is available for pre-order online for $79.99. Noem had previously faced backlash for admitting to shooting her family’s dog, Cricket, whom she described as “vicious” and responsible for killing a neighbor’s animals. Noem defended her actions by stating that the dog was aggressive and had attacked her, using the incident as an example of her willingness to make tough decisions.

This controversy comes at a time when Noem has been rumored as a potential vice presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
