The LGBTQ+ community is growing faster than mold on leftover pizza in a college dorm room! According to a recent Gallup poll, the number of folks in America waving the rainbow flag has shot up like a rocket, now making up a whopping 7.6% of the population. That’s a lot of colors in the mix, folks!
Now, hold onto your MAGA hats, because just a few years back in 2012, only 3.5% of adults were chalking up rainbows. But today, it’s like a pride parade every day with 7.6% of Americans shouting, “Love is love!” But wait, there’s more! Over half of this rainbow crew is proudly waving the bisexual banner, at a whopping 57.3%. Maybe they just can’t pick a side in the culture war!

What’s more mind-blowing than a conspiracy theory on TikTok? The numbers in Generation Z – those tech-savvy whippersnappers born between 1997 and 2012 – are off the charts. A whooping 22.3% of these youngsters are embracing the LGBTQ+ label. Move over, Millennials! They’re lagging behind at only 9.8%. And don’t let Grandma and Grandpa feel left out; Baby Boomers are barely in the game at 2.3%.
Now, it’s not just about rainbow flags and unicorn stickers. It’s also about politics! The poll revealed that 43% of Gen Zers identify as “liberal.” Cue the eye roll! And get this, they’re less religious than Grandma’s antique doilies, with 33% swiping left on traditional faith. Maybe they’re too busy binge-watching shows to make it to church on Sundays.
