Recordings made during Special Counsel Robert Hur's inquiry into Joe Biden's handling of secret documents have been discussed in the most recent news. Democrats felt this judgment was unfair because Biden was not prosecuted during this probe, and the president's health and age were taken into account. Biden was criticized for handling confidential information carelessly, but he was not charged.

It's interesting to note that Hur's accusations of the president's mental degeneration were contested by Biden's attorney, who demanded the release of these recordings. In order to prevent the tapes from being made public, the president invoked executive privilege, which prompted House Republicans to consider charging Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of court. A disagreement with Congress resulted from Garland's refusal to turn over the audio recordings.
A resolution to charge Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with its request for audio recordings from the case involving sensitive materials involving President Biden was advanced by a Republican-led House committee. The dispute with Congress took a fresh turn when the Justice Department declared that the president was claiming executive privilege over the tapes.
The House Judiciary Committee voted 18–15 to move forward with the resolution over the department’s refusal to provide the recordings of former special counsel Robert Hur’s October 2023 conversation with the president. Hur's year-long investigation came to an end a few months ago, with the release of a report that featured several crucial findings but ultimately cleared the president. The Justice Department was subpoenaed by the committees for the audio recordings and other investigation materials.
Even though there has been drama on Capitol Hill as a result of this issue, it is unlikely that much will change. Notwithstanding rumors that Biden is angry with Garland for allegedly holding up investigations into Trump, Garland is probably going to keep his job. Biden seems to be upset that his Department of Justice did not look into his political rivals.
