On December 18, 2019, the House voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. These were the highest vote totals for impeachment in history. The Senate later acquitted Trump of both charges. It is important to note that no Republicans sided with the Democrats on these charges. As President Trump prepares to return to office, it is imperative for all Republicans to come together to support conservative legislation and policies.
During Trump’s first term, some Republicans, known as RINOs (Republicans in Name Only), did not fully support his agenda. This division weakened the Republican Party and hindered the implementation of conservative policies. Figures like Liz Cheney, who voted to impeach Trump, faced consequences for their actions. However, the election of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson reflected a shift towards stronger support for Trump within the party.

President Trump has faced resistance from RINOs who do not align with his vision for governance. Trump’s allies are pushing back against these Republicans who are perceived as obstructing his efforts. Additionally, some former Republican staffers endorsed Kamala Harris over Trump in the 2024 election, highlighting the ongoing rift within the party. Moving forward, unity within the Republican Party is crucial for advancing conservative values and policies.
With Republicans holding slim majorities in Congress, the focus is on distinguishing true conservatives from RINOs. The goal is to either bring the dissenting members in line with the party’s objectives or support new candidates who align with conservative values. After experiencing what some view as ineffective leadership under the Biden administration, there is a renewed interest in Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda and policies.
It is clear that American values and interests should be the priority for the government. The return of Trump to the political scene has reignited a desire for policies that prioritize the well-being of the nation and its citizens. Uniting all Republicans is seen as essential for achieving this goal and ensuring a prosperous future for America.
