Scalise Backs Jordan for Speaker, Will He Boost Campaign Further

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), the man with a plan to lead the Republican Party as Speaker of the House, didn’t quite make the cut in the first round of voting. The guy couldn’t catch a break, first losing out to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who dropped out before the votes even began. Talk about not having the chops to go the distance! And then, even though Scalise voted for Jordan on the House floor, he refused to give him a proper nominating speech. What a snub! It’s clear Scalise isn’t the team player he claims to be.

But not to worry, Jordan had another ally in his corner. House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) stepped up to the plate and gave a speech that could make you stand up and cheer. However, it wasn’t enough to push Jordan over the finish line. He fell short by a measly 17 votes, leaving him with a total of 200. On the other side of the aisle, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) received a whopping 212 votes, with not a single House Democrat breaking ranks. Talk about party unity, huh?

Now, we’re just left wondering when the next round of voting will take place. Will Jordan be able to seal the deal? Or will he be left in the dust, watching as someone else takes the prize? Only time will tell, but let’s hope the Republicans can get their act together and rally behind a strong leader. Because if they keep up this infighting, the Democrats are going to walk all over them. And that’s not a pretty sight.
