Oh boy, oh boy! The Supreme Court is making headlines again, folks! This time, they’re giving Special Counsel Jack Smith a little slap on the wrist for his prosecution of the greatest president this country has ever seen, Donald J. Trump.
Now, according to those left-leaning Washington Post folks, Smith has been ordered to respond to Trump’s request for the Supreme Court to review his claim of presidential immunity. You see, Trump’s attorneys are arguing that he can’t be prosecuted for anything he did while he was in office. And honestly, who can blame them? The man was just doing his job!
But of course, some activist judge named Tanya Chutkan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. circuit disagree. They think they can just throw the book at Trump and indict him for doing what any good president would do after a questionable election. It’s just plain unfair!
So, what does Trump do? He fires back and asks the Supreme Court to pause his case while he appeals this nonsense. And let me tell ya, he’s got a point! If they can go after a president for doing his duty, it’s gonna set a dangerous precedent. We’ll have future presidents getting indicted left and right, and our system of separated powers will crumble like a stale cookie!
Trump’s lawyers, bless their hearts, are warning that this isn’t just about one man. No, no, it’s about every future president, Democrat or Republican, being targeted by their political opponents. Can you imagine the chaos? Presidents being blackmailed or extorted with the threat of indictment? It sounds like a bad movie plot, not the future of our great nation!
Now, here’s where things get really interesting. The Supreme Court has a decision to make. Do they fast-track Trump’s case or put it on the regular calendar? If they choose the latter, we won’t see a resolution until after this year’s election. Can you believe it? They’re gonna keep this hanging over Trump’s head, and who knows what kind of impact it will have on the election? It’s shameful, really.
