A horrific crime was committed in France by a Syrian asylum-seeker, who brazenly stabbed children and their caretakers in a park. The assailant was promptly arrested, but that does not erase the terror he inflicted on innocent bystanders. The country’s president, Emmanuel Macron, condemned the cowardly attack; however, his words of condemnation are not enough to prevent such violence in the future.

This shocking stabbing is just one of the many egregious acts of violence that have occurred in France since the country has become a stopover for refugees from the Middle East. France has been struggling to enforce its immigration laws and has turned a blind eye to the fact that many of these newcomers do not want to adapt to the French culture or even attempt to assimilate.
The dangers of lax immigration policies have been ignored for too long. Terrorists and violent criminals have, unfortunately, taken advantage of the open gate policy France has for anyone who wants to come, regardless of their intentions. This disturbing attack brings into sharp focus how vital it is to vet prospective immigrants and ensure they are willing to adopt the values and principles of the host nation.
Despite what the left claims, the truth is simple. Tough immigration policies have been put into place because the security and safety of law-abiding citizens must come first. The horrific events in the French park are just another example of the high price that countries pay when basic security measures are ignored.
