In the Lone Star State of Texas, a heated battle is brewing in the Republican primary between Representative Tony Gonzales and his challenger, Brandon Herrera, also known as “The AK Guy.” Recently, Gonzales took to CNN to label Herrera as a “neo-nazi,” sparking controversy within conservative circles.
It is vital to focus on policy differences rather than resorting to name-calling, especially on a liberal platform like CNN. Accusations of neo-nazism should not be thrown around lightly, as they carry profound implications and can damage reputations unfairly.

It is essential to remember that Herrera, despite his moniker as “The AK Guy,” is not a neo-nazi and has not received an endorsement from former President Donald Trump. Making baseless claims only distracts from important policy discussions and gives ammunition to the opposition.
Republicans must uphold a higher standard of conduct and refrain from adopting the divisive tactics of the left. Personal attacks have no place in a political debate, and voters deserve a focus on substantive issues that affect their lives.
Ultimately, it will be up to the voters in Gonzales’ district to decide the outcome of this primary race. Let us hope that the discourse can shift back to matters of policy and governance rather than engaging in character assassinations that do a disservice to the conservative cause.
