Texas Rep Slams Kimmel’s Oscars Rant on ‘Totalitarian Trump’

Oh, the Oscars — that yearly extravaganza where Hollywood elites gather to pat themselves on the back and tell the rest of America how to live their lives. This year’s event seemed just as predictable as ever, with the usual hollow virtue signaling and speeches about free speech crackdowns. While everyone was busy applauding each other, one couldn’t help but admire the acting skills being practiced in the Congressional halls back in Washington. Some say there’s more drama and theatrical talent in Congress than in Hollywood these days!

As viewers, or rather non-viewers, might have noticed, there was a refreshing, albeit surprising nod to traditional values this time around. Among all the glitz and glamour, there seemed to be a small but notable acknowledgment of fatherhood, motherhood, and family values — a rare highlight in such events. For a moment, even Hollywood’s infamous anti-Christian sentiment took a backseat, allowing a slight veneration of virtues usually scorned by the very elite spearheading the award circuit.

Despite this, the evening couldn’t escape the usual hypocrisy. While elites preach from the stage about oppression and authoritarian governments, they remain conveniently silent about real oppressors like Iran or China. It’s as if the script only allows criticism of certain groups that won’t affect their wallets or precious red carpet invites. But when real protection was needed due to an Iranian threat, those cries against law enforcement faded surprisingly fast. The very people who can’t stop talking about defunding the police were all too happy to have federal protections at their event.

Then there’s the perpetual commentator, Jimmy Kimmel, who managed once more to sidestep any semblance of fairness or rational critique. Launching into yet another Trump-bashing spree, his musings on free speech couldn’t be more ironic. Despite railing against imagined Republican attacks on expression, here he was, freely criticizing whoever he pleased. Perhaps he missed the memo that Hollywood’s brand of free speech often conveniently forgets to include conservative voices.

But isn’t that part of the larger problem? So much of Hollywood is out of touch with the everyday American experience, where real life doesn’t revolve around endless awards shows and elitist back patting. It’s no wonder young people are tuning out, searching instead for authenticity and culture they can truly connect with. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Congress wrestles with real issues like the Save Act — a piece of legislation with tangible impact seeking to ensure electoral integrity. While Hollywood congratulates itself, perhaps there’s more drama worth following in the Senate, where a bit less acting and a bit more action could make a world of difference.
