A federal appeals court has handed Texas Governor Greg Abbott a much-needed win in the ongoing border battle against President Joe Biden’s immigration strategy. In a decisive 2-1 ruling by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, it was determined that Biden’s administration cannot remove the razor wire installed by Texas officials along the U.S.-Mexico border in Eagle Pass, Texas. This is akin to giving a Texas rancher the green light to keep coyotes out of the henhouse, and boy, is that a relief!

Abbott wasted no time gloating about this legal triumph. He quickly took to social media to announce that Texas maintains the right to keep its razor wire border barrier intact. With the Biden administration previously attempting to cut loose these critical precautions, Abbott’s declaration that they were wrong to do so strikes a chord with anyone fed up with the federal government’s lax approach to border security. More razor wire is on the way, further complicating the life of anyone looking to cross that border unlawfully.
The attorney general of Texas, Ken Paxton, echoed Abbott’s sentiments in a similarly victorious post. Paxton hailed this as a “HUGE WIN FOR TEXAS!” and emphasized that the Biden administration is now prohibited from messing with the state’s border enforcement efforts. It’s almost as if the court just said, “Texas, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. We trust you to handle your own border.”
This decision comes at a time when the friction between Abbott’s Texas and Biden’s administration is heating up like a jalapeño in a Texas BBQ. While the Justice Department argues that the razor wire poses risks to migrants and complicates federal patrols, Texans see it as a necessary line of defense against unchecked immigration.
