In a stunning turn of events that spares no time for the usual political posturing, former President Donald Trump has announced that Russia and Ukraine are set to jumpstart peace negotiations. This comes on the heels of a so-called “highly productive” phone chat with none other than Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump used his platform Truth Social to unveil the details of this telephone rendezvous, making it clear that diplomacy would take center stage in resolving this vicious conflict.
During the call, Trump and Putin veered into a wide array of topics ranging from energy to artificial intelligence, and of course, they “reflected” on the splendor of their nations’ glorious history, conveniently glossing over the fact that they both suffered significant losses in World War II. Anyone else would have struggled to connect those dots, but Trump remains unfazed as he talks about the potential benefits of cooperation. However, the crux of the discussion was clear: they both want to end the “millions of deaths” currently taking place in the ongoing war.
The former president boldly has his team on the job, choosing notable personnel like Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz to lead America’s efforts in these negotiations. Given the track record of current U.S. diplomacy, one might expect a less-than-promising outcome, but Trump is nothing if not optimistic. He believes that under his instruction, they’ll achieve success that current leaders only dream of.

Of course, this effort comes after Fox News host Pete Hegseth let it slip that NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table, a stance Trump has long advocated. Even amid grumbling from many quarters, the discussions hold the potential for a shift in Ukraine’s geopolitical footing—a concept that may well have elite globalists shaking in their Birkenstocks.
On top of all that, Trump recently extended his gratitude to Putin for orchestrating the release of American teacher Marc Fogel, who had previously found himself in hot water in Russia. This seems to be his way of reminding everyone that while geopolitics can be murky, individual lives do matter. Trump stated that agreements might come to fruition, or they might not, but he clearly intends to keep the pressure on to ensure that all parties walk away with something tangible—ideally with peace in the air and no more lives lost.
