President Trump is once again putting the spotlight on serious threats against his life, taking charge and demanding transparency from the Secret Service regarding two chilling assassination attempts this past summer. In a bold interview with the New York Post, he stated that he has ordered the agency to release “every bit of information” surrounding these nearly fatal encounters, leaving no stone unturned. It seems even in the thick of summer heat—or perhaps because of it—the Secret Service had some serious explaining to do.
What has the former president curious is the bizarre nature of the attackers. One of them had an arsenal of six cellphones, while the other was found lurking with suspicious foreign apps on his devices. It’s hard not to raise an eyebrow at such oddities. One would think that if someone were plotting a serious attack on a former president, they’d try to keep their tech more low-key than a teenager sneaking out to a party.
The president is adamant that he deserves clarity on these threats, and quite frankly, who can blame him? He pointed fingers at the current administration, suggesting that former President Biden’s mishandling of information is why vital details have been withheld. It sounds like a classic case of more political smoke and mirrors. If Biden’s team is sitting on information about a past assassination attempt, one can only wonder if they think it’s better left buried than putting the nation’s safety first.
These attempts didn’t just endanger Trump; they also resulted in the tragic death of retired firefighter Corey Comperatore, who heroically shielded his daughters during the shooting spree at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The lazy decision to leave the rooftop uncovered by the Secret Service, allegedly due to concerns over the temperature, left a perfectly clear shot for the would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks. It’s hard to imagine that the warmth outweighs the necessity of protecting a former president and innocent lives alike.

Fast forward two months, and one would hope that the Secret Service had learned their lesson, but alas, it seems not. Another near-tragic event unfolded when 59-year-old Ryan Routh sought to take a shot at Trump while he was playing golf in Florida. Armed with a scoped rifle, Routh’s escapade ended as dramatically as a low-budget thriller, with agents firing back and eventually apprehending him. His connection to Ukraine raises more questions than answers, but one thing is crystal clear: the stakes keep rising, and the need for vigilance has never been more pressing.
America deserves to know the full story behind these threats, alongside the names of the would-be assassins who’ve shown such deplorable intent. Perhaps if the former president had been given the resources he warranted, lives could have been saved. The importance of transparency in this matter cannot be overstated, lest this nation continue to allow political gamesmanship to imperil its leaders.
